How to use this tool
Enter seating distance and wall width; compare standard TV widths before checking a bracket.
Enter your details
All defaults are editable planning assumptions. Use actual product specifications and site conditions where possible.
How the estimate works
A 16:9 screen width is the diagonal in metres × 0.8716. Viewing angle is twice the arctangent of half that width divided by viewing distance.
Where product limits or site conditions matter, confirm them against the exact model and installation before buying.
Understanding your result
Treat the entered screen diagonal as a starting point. A larger screen fills more of your field of view, but seating preference, subtitles and mixed-resolution programmes can change what feels comfortable. Check the actual screen width against the available wall or cabinet space.
Choosing the right equipment
Compare the shortlisted televisions in person where possible. Check viewing distance, stand width, VESA mounting pattern and the bracket’s weight rating. Picture technology and room lighting often matter more than moving up one diagonal size.
