Ceramic Tower Heaters

Ceramic tower heaters heat up quickly and distribute warmth evenly across a room using a fan - ideal for living rooms and bedrooms where you need fast, effective heating. Most include adjustable thermostat settings and a timer for energy efficiency.

Convector Heaters

Convector heaters use natural convection to circulate warm air silently - a good choice for bedrooms or spaces where fan noise is undesirable. They heat more slowly than ceramic fan heaters but maintain a consistent ambient temperature.

Fan Heater Purifiers and Specialty Heaters

Heater and Air Purifier Combos

Fan heater purifiers combine heating, cooling, and air purification in one unit - filtering allergens and pollutants while heating or cooling the room. A practical all-year-round appliance for NZ homes where air quality and temperature both matter.

Heated Throws and Fireplace Accessories

Heated throws provide personal warmth without heating an entire room - energy-efficient for solo use on the couch or in bed. Heat-powered fireplace fans circulate warm air from an existing wood or gas fire more effectively across the room.

How to Choose a Heater

Room Size and Wattage

As a general guide, allow approximately 10W per square metre for a well-insulated NZ room. A 2000W heater suits rooms up to around 20m² - larger or poorly insulated spaces may need a higher-output unit or supplementary heating.

Fan Heater vs Convector

Fan heaters heat a room quickly but produce fan noise. Convector heaters are silent but take longer to warm a space. For bedrooms, a convector or heated throw is often more comfortable overnight than a fan heater.

Safety Features

Look for heaters with tip-over protection and overheat cut-off - important for households with children or pets. Timer and thermostat controls help prevent overheating and reduce running costs by only heating when needed.
