No Bags, Easy Emptying

Bagless canister vacuums collect dust and debris in a washable dustbin - no ongoing cost of replacement bags. Cyclonic separation maintains suction as the bin fills, and most include washable filters for long-term performance.

Pet and Allergy Models

Canister vacuums designed for pet hair include motorised turbo brush heads that agitate carpet fibres and remove embedded pet hair more effectively than standard floor heads. HEPA filtration traps fine allergens and pet dander for cleaner exhaust air.

Powerful Upright Cleaning

Upright vacuums combine the motor and dustbin in a single upright unit - easier to push across large carpeted areas and typically offering stronger suction for deep carpet cleaning than stick vacuums.

Dyson Ball Technology

Dyson Ball vacuums use a ball-mounted motor that allows the vacuum to turn on a tight radius - making it easier to manoeuvre around furniture and into corners compared to traditional upright designs.

How to Choose a Canister or Upright Vacuum

Canister vs Upright

Canister vacuums are more manoeuvrable - the motor unit stays on the floor while you guide the wand and head, making them easier to use on stairs and around furniture. Upright vacuums are better for large carpeted areas where you want to push rather than pull.

Bagged vs Bagless

Bagged vacuums contain dust more hygienically during emptying - better for allergy sufferers. Bagless models are more economical over time but require more careful emptying to avoid releasing dust back into the air.

Filtration

HEPA filtration captures 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns - important for allergy and asthma sufferers. Check whether the filter is washable or requires periodic replacement to factor in ongoing running costs.
