Indoor vs Outdoor Access Points

Indoor Access Points

Indoor WAPs are designed for offices, warehouses, schools, and hospitality environments where reliable Wi-Fi coverage is needed across large interior spaces. Ceiling-mount and wall-mount options are available, with many supporting PoE for clean cable-free installation.

Outdoor Access Points

Outdoor WAPs are weatherproof and designed for car parks, campuses, sports facilities, and industrial sites. They provide long-range coverage in environments where indoor units cannot reach. Look for IP67 or IP66 rated units for full weather resistance.

Wi-Fi Standards

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access points deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and better performance in high-density environments compared to Wi-Fi 5. Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6GHz band for even less congestion. For most business deployments, Wi-Fi 6 is the recommended standard. Browse our full networking range including PoE switches to power your access points. Fast NZ delivery from Tech Supply Shed.
