How to use this tool
Use every device's maximum draw, PoE type and the candidate switch's per-port and total ratings.
Enter your details
All defaults are editable planning assumptions. Use actual product specifications and site conditions where possible.
How the estimate works
Each device’s peak draw is scaled up to the switch side for worst-case cable loss under the selected PoE type, multiplied by the number of ports, then the extra headroom is added. The full class reservation is also shown, because some switches reserve the maximum power for each port’s class regardless of actual draw. All entered ports are assumed to use the same type and draw.
Where product limits or site conditions matter, confirm them against the exact model and installation before buying.
Understanding your result
The combined watt figure is a switch planning budget, not a promise that every port can supply its connected device. Device-side power is lower than switch-side allocation because cable and power conversion use energy.
Choosing the right equipment
Check the PoE standard and per-port limit for each camera, access point or intercom. Then compare total switch budget, uplink capacity and port count with the exact model; keep spare ports for expansion.
