How to use this tool
Enter camera count, configured bitrate and retention days; choose HDD/NVR or SD card mode.
Enter your details
For SD recording, the result is the required capacity of each card; it does not combine cards across cameras. Confirm card support, recording mode and high-endurance requirements for the exact camera. For NVR recording, the result is the combined usable footage capacity before any filesystem or recorder-specific overhead. This simple tool does not model RAID.
How the estimate works
Continuous recording uses 10.8 decimal GB per day for each Mbps. Multiply by recording activity, cameras and days, then add the chosen capacity margin.
Where product limits or site conditions matter, confirm them against the exact model and installation before buying.
Understanding your result
NVR/HDD capacity is shared across the cameras you enter; SD card capacity is for each individual camera. Actual retention changes with configured bitrate, motion activity, recording schedule and camera limits.
Choosing the right equipment
For an NVR, check supported drive capacities, channel count and incoming bandwidth. For an in-camera card, verify its maximum supported size and choose an endurance-rated card suitable for frequent recording.
