One of Aotearoa’s most acclaimed singer-songwriters, Anna Coddington (Ng?ti T?wharetoa and Te Arawa), returns with her new album, Te Whakamiha. The title is a translation of the name of Coddington’s band, The Appreciations (Jol Mulholland, Mike Hall and Fen Ikner).

Te Whakamiha incorporates funk and R&B with memorable hooks and singalong choruses — a sound which Coddington dubbed ‘M?ori funk’.

The album moves effortlessly from te reo M?ori to English, with Coddington’s vocals a constant highlight.

The result is her finest work yet, an album which sounds truly original, yet distinctly belongs to Coddington.
