Description
POWER TO THE PEOPLE - On August 30, 1972, JOHN LENNON & YOKO ONO/Plastic Ono Band with Elephant’s Memory and Special Guests headlined two historic ONE TO ONE Concerts at Madison Square Garden, New York City.
These charitable benefit shows played to a combined audience of 40,000 people and helped to raise over $1.5 million (2025 equivalent = $11.5 million) to support children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They were John Lennon’s only full-length concerts after leaving The Beatles and the last two full-length concerts that John & Yoko performed together. Excerpts from the concerts were featured as part of ONE TO ONE - the critically acclaimed documentary about John & Yoko, directed by Kevin Macdonald and Executive Produced by Sean Ono Lennon.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE – the films of the two concerts, directed by Simon Hilton and edited by Ben Wainwright-Pierce – are due for release next year. Produced by SEAN ONO LENNON leading his 5 x GRAMMY® Award-winning team, both concerts have been completely remixed and re-engineered from scratch by PAUL HICKS and SAM GANNON, using brand new HD multitrack transfers by ROB STEVENS, with the mixes mastered by ALEX WHARTON at Abbey Road Studios.
