He joined his first band at age 15, and just five years later, his eponymous debut album was released. By 1983, the fresh-faced Canadian had written songs for the likes of Pat Benatar and Kiss, and had also toured in support of two solo albums, opening for the likes of the Kinks and Foreigner. After recording Cuts Like a Knife, his potential for being “the next big thing” became crystal clear.
