About the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2

The redesigned earbuds have a redesigned acoustic architecture with upgraded venting for enhanced sound and comfort. Over 1,500 hours of testing with nearly 1,000 athletes went into the fit. The charging case is 33% smaller than the first generation and is compatible with wireless Qi charging.

Heart-rate sessions start and end automatically on iPhone, but must be started by the user on Android. The heart-rate monitor can be turned off in settings. The charging case is not sweat or water resistant, so do not charge wet earbuds.

Apple's September 2024 testing used pre-production units paired with iPhone 15 Pro, playing 358 iTunes tracks at 50% volume with Active Noise Cancelling and Transparency turned off. With ANC turned on, the earbuds last 8 hours of continuous playback, and the case brings the total to 36 hours. Apple's support guidance covers cleaning the earbuds.

The earbuds were tested under controlled laboratory conditions and rated IPX4 under IEC standard 60529. The five-minute Fast Fuel figure was measured with drained earbuds charged over USB-C, with playback running until the first earbud stopped.

Certain features need a compatible device running iOS 18, iPadOS 18 or macOS Sequoia and later, paired with Powerbeats Pro 2 on the latest firmware. Apple's support pages explain how to clean and dry the earbuds before charging them.
