Batteries and chargers should be matched as a system, with cell chemistry and voltage checked before use. This NZ collection includes rechargeable cells, vehicle and equipment chargers, replacement batteries and holders rather than only automotive batteries.
Rechargeable cells
18650 Li-Ion Battery 2600mAh 3.7V (SB2308)
Match chemistry as well as size
Cylindrical lithium-ion cells, other rechargeable formats and device batteries have different voltages and charging requirements. A cell that fits physically may still be electrically unsuitable. Check the equipment requirement, terminal style and whether protection circuitry is specified, and do not substitute a higher-voltage rechargeable cell for an ordinary battery based on size alone.
Mains and DC-DC chargers serve different charging arrangements. Read the supported chemistry, nominal voltage and charge current for the actual product. A charger labelled for several battery types still needs the correct approved setting and connection, and an alternator-connected charger is not automatically a replacement for a mains charger.
Holders, snaps, clips and enclosures are accessories rather than batteries. Compare cell count, terminal style, mounting and dimensions with the equipment or project. The resulting voltage depends on the selected cells and connection arrangement, so a holder should not be treated as a complete regulated power supply.
Match chemistry, nominal voltage, capacity and discharge requirement to the equipment manufacturer instructions. Check flat-top, raised-terminal or solder-tag formats carefully. Avoid using an unverified replacement in a device simply because its cell size or capacity sounds similar.
Charging and handling
Use a charger documented for the exact battery chemistry and configuration. Inspect cells and leads for damage, and follow storage and charging instructions. Do not improvise charging arrangements, mix incompatible cells or assume a larger charge-current rating is suitable for every small battery.
