How to Improve WiFi Coverage Around Your Home

Check Your Wired Backbone
Sometimes slow speeds are not a WiFi problem at all. If your router is connected to your modem via an old or damaged ethernet cable, or if your ISP-supplied modem is underperforming, your speeds will be capped before the signal even reaches your wireless devices.
A quick diagnostic: run a speed test via a device plugged directly into your router with an ethernet cable. If those wired speeds are also slow, the bottleneck is upstream of your WiFi - and no router upgrade will fix it.
